Right Side of the Brain
My name's Alison.
I'm an animator, writer, and artist extraordinaire.
I like to write, draw, and animate kids with superpowers. You might say I'm a little obsessed with it.

Feel free to shoot me a message any time! I do requests (if I have the time), so if you want to see anything in particular, shoot me a message! Also, feel free to check out my commissions tab to see all of my current commission prices!

What’s this? Some more work in progress animation? Hot diggity!

Anyway, WIP and the beginning of one of my animating dreams to do an anime intro for my own stuff (my characters basically). Parodying the opening animation sequence to namco vs. capcom (though my inspiration was actually a mega man parody of the video, so i guess this would be the parody of a parody).

There’s a ton of characters in this one, and since this is a WIP, I’m not going to explain it all until I’m done. Just note that any scene that is missing characters, has weird music jumps, and black backgrounds is incomplete.

More to come.

Hey everyone! I’m one of the lead illustrators for a company called Global Sleepover, a company focused on writing digital books for the iPad, Kindle, or Nook for kids ages 4-8. The premise is four kids of different ethnicities, styles, and personalities who travel around the world learning about various cultures and peoples, making new friends, and learning how to be global citizens.

We are also pleased to announce our partnership with the Street Child World Cup, an organization challenging the perception and treatment of street children through football, art & campaigning.

In today’s world, we need more books with diverse characters, and Global Sleepover is hoping to provide young kids with an enjoyable reading experience that does just that! So, pack your sleeping bags, grab your passports, and get ready for adventure, because who really sleeps at a sleepover?

With the World Cup in Brazil happening as we speak, our latest story, “A Soccer (Football) Sleepover in Brazil”, which I did all of the illustrations for, is now available on the iPad, Kindle, or Nook.

The book not only provides narration for kids who might be too young to read (you can turn the narration off too if you would prefer to read by yourself), but it also provides a variety of definitions and facts about soccer and Brazil (for those who want to learn more than what the story gives). There are also cool interacting opportunities within the story, such as a soccer game, helping the main characters repack their backpacks, and helping the airplane find Brazil!

If you have kids (and need a new, fun series to give them), if you love learning about the world and its many peoples and cultures (I know I do!), or if you want to just support me and the illustrating that I do, please consider checking the series out! Or, if you know someone who would be interested, please share and help get the word out! Seriously, you would be doing me, my awesome boss, and everyone on the team a favor!

We’ve poured months into character development - doing the research, naming them, giving them personalities, showing their home, their country, their friends. When possible, we base our character off real kids from the countries. We define diversity as global awareness, of having friends from different cultures and traditions, of experiencing the world in all it has to offer. Each storybook comes with a Guide for Parents or Teachers, vocabulary words, fun facts about the country, comprehension questions and fun activities!

More illustrations for the incoming book The Global Sleepover: A Soccer Sleepover in Brazil. Here are two of the three stars: Fernão and Noah! I got to design Fernão and name him, so he has a special place in my heart.

The story will be out soon, just in time for the World Cup! Pick up a copy! The series is intended for kids ages 4-8, but can be read by anyone who enjoys adventure, travel, and learning about new and exciting places.

Illustration of the World Cup Trophy!
This was supposed to be in my company’s upcoming book, “The Global Sleepover: Sleepover at the World Cup in Brazil” but due to copyright, we aren’t allowed to use it. So I need to redesign it, but I didn’t want to lose the image, so I figured I would put it on tumblr, as World Cup fanart, since the World Cup is almost here. Apologies for the plain background.

Keep your eyes open for “Sleepover at the World Cup in Brazil”! It’s going to be a blast!

Holy moly! This was probably one of the most challenging but incredibly fun projects I have had to do. An illustration for The Global Sleepover: A Soccer (Football) Sleepover in Brazil coming out next month. I had to draw a rainforest, a beach, and Rio de Janeiro. Took me 8 hours to do this (and that’s breaking it up over 3 days while fixing up other illustrations). I decided to do 2 1/2 hour speedpaintings for each to work on my ability to speedpaint and give detail. Still getting the hang of speedpaintings and this was great practice to improve my skill.
Might come back to tweak this up, but for now, it’s good. Plus, I have other illustrations to tweak up before midnight tomorrow night.

WIP put on hold because of work, but basically started because of a fun crossover friendship my friend and I have with our two tough mom characters. Bar brawling buddies, nice but sassy to the core, ass-kicking, colorful pasts, and, now, motorcycling tough chicks.
I will finish you soon my darling. Soon enough. These sassy, kickass moms will have their time.
Alissa’s getting there with the lineart. Have to do Raina (my friend’s character) too. There may or may not be motorcycles in this picture too (shh there will be).

The thrilling sequel to this. Now with fancy captions and more mighty lips! If you really want to see what’s being said, view the pic and zoom in!

I got really bored in my hotel room last night (internet-less, and done with homework and work for the night). So, this happened.

Sorry to all the casualties, which are mostly a collection of my and my friends’ characters. Plus Irene and Hercules.

Not all of the drawings are mine. Laurel-jay and Crisis drew some of these. And the top ones are from Princess and the Goblin and Hercules and Xena. Some  of these pics are from last year or older, too, so drawing styles have definitely changed.

I need to get back to actual drawing now.

Lineart of current WIP. I’m doing my own side projects to improve my skills during downtime from my digital drawings for work (will post those once the story is published).
Younger versions of my medieval characters in the snow. Three of them are from more tropic climates (India, Nigeria, and Hawaii) so seeing snow would be a rather exciting experience for them.
Been thinking about these cuties quite a bit lately and working with them probably more than I should be.
